If different holidays were considered as "products" then Fishing would score very highly when it comes to repeat sales. Fishermen love Ireland and come back to it's shores year in year out for the rivers and lakes to attend around 50 Fishing festivals and competitions.
The Salmon and Trout seasons vary across the country so if you plan a fishing trip then the timing is important. That said January 1st commands a large draw of keen fishermen to catch the first Salmon of the year, a title revered locally with top hotels paying top dollar for the catch in question (usually salmon). In Ireland a license is required by law for Sea Trout or Salmon fishing with limits as to what you can take out of the water. With over 3000 miles of coastline and probably the same again on of inland rivers there's plenty of choice on offer.
In particular Killarney and surrounding areas are perfect for those who love to fish. Game/Sea/Coarse fishing are widely available for everyone to enjoy.
